Rave! Catering Lead Waitstaff

Job Title: Rave! Catering Lead Waitstaff, Tier 3

Campus Enterprises Mission: Campus Enterprises is NC State’s lead division of retail and hospitality organizations. Each department is dedicated to providing service excellence, value and enrichment of the student experience in support of academic success.

Purpose: NC State Students Centers and Rave! Catering work together to create a memorable experience for all students, guests and alumni here at NC State. We strive to provide a clean, safe and welcoming environment for the NC State community. In support of the university’s educational mission, we serve as a cornerstone for student growth, learning and involvement through the highest quality service and facilities.

Location: Varies depending on event location (any building on campus)

Work Schedule: Event-based shift work; 4-20 hours per week. Includes nights and weekends and annual mandatory events

Starting Wage: $11.50/hr (Tier 3)  with opportunity for raises based on years of service within Campus Enterprises.  Dining and Catering employees earn free meals and are eligible for an end-of-semester bonus

Campus Enterprises Expectations: As student employees with Campus Enterprises we expect you to be professional and be present for your shifts. This includes but not limited to:

• Arriving on time for shifts
• Having on a complete uniform
• Clocking in and clocking out in a timely fashion
• Cell phones are only used at appropriate times
• Prioritize the client
• Finish all duties before taking a break

Essential functions and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Provide a superior level of customer service
• Demonstrate the experience and knowledge of all types of events to include china and VIP events
• Ability to handle events with no supervision
• Properly manage time to set up event spaces with table linens, silverware, glassware, and other catering equipment by event start time
• Break down equipment immediately following event
• Maintain and replenish food and beverage needs throughout event
• Take initiative to work independently and coordinate with catering team as needed
• Use problem solving skills to provide accommodations for clients in a fast-paced setting
• Perform minor housekeeping duties
• Maintain a high level of professionalism at all times
• Remain in compliance with RAVE! Catering student employee policies and expectations at all times
• Perform other duties or side work as assigned by catering coordinators

Essential Qualifications

• Current NC State University student with a flexible schedule
• Must have previous experience as a waitstaff
• Ability to handle meat, dairy and various foods either with or without gloves
• Demonstrate excellent customer service skills
• Ability to carry, push, pull, and roll up to 40 pounds
• Ability to work with a team
• Elevated oral and written communication skills
• Must attend mandatory staff meetings, student employee orientation and training sessions

Skill Development

Working as a member of the Rave! Catering team, students gain valuable experience and develop skills that can be transferred to their individual career paths. Rave! Catering has developed student employee objectives and corresponding learning outcomes that outline the development opportunities student employees can expect.
