Hiring Committee Member – Current NC State Student Centers Employees Only
Job Title: Hiring Committee Member
Tier: 2
Location: Talley Student Union
Supervision: Reports to Hiring Manager and Supervising Graduate Assistant for the Hiring Committee
Work Schedule: Required 2 office hours/week during peak hiring times (March, April, September, November); Hours may increase during peak times; one-hour monthly meetings
Compensation: Minimum starting wage $10.75/hr with opportunity for raises based on years of service within Campus Enterprises
Purpose: NC State Students Centers and Rave! Events work together to create a memorable experience for all students, guests and alumni here at NC State. We strive to provide a clean, safe and welcoming environment for the NC State community. In support of the university’s educational mission, we serve as a cornerstone for student growth, learning and involvement through the highest quality service and facilities.
Essential functions and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Ability to communicate effectively with other Hiring Committee Members, Hiring Manager and Graduate Assistant for Student Success to ensure good hiring practice
- Review applications using our online review process
- Conduct interviews autonomously and as a team
- Ability to use a hiring rubric fairly during application review and interview process
- Maintain professionalism at all times
- Ability to communicate availability to contribute to interview process
- Maintain current role(s) with NC State Student Centers
- Attend weekly office hours during peak hiring times (i.e. March, April, September, November) and when called in by Hiring Manager
- Attend mandatory staff meetings and monthly one-hour Hiring Committee Meetings
- Remain in compliance with NC State Student Centers student employee policies and expectations at all times
Essential Qualifications
- Current NC State Student Centers employee
- Current NC State University student with a flexible schedule
- High flexibility of schedule during peak hiring times (i.e. March, April, September, November)
- Commitment to on-call basis during down times and attend office hours as needed
- Knowledge & application of NC State Student Centers hiring practices
- Ability to work with a team to assess NC State Student Centers applicants
- Elevated oral and written communication skills
- Aptitude toward group work, responsibility, problem solving, and respect
- Must attend mandatory student employee orientation and training sessions
