Setup Assistant

Job Title: Setup Assistant

Tier: 1

Location: Talley Student Union and Duke Energy Hall at Hunt Library

Supervision: Reports to Night & Weekend Operations Coordinator

Work Schedule: Event-based schedule; 8-20 hours per week between 7am and 1am; includes nights and weekends; special hours apply occasionally

Compensation: Minimum starting wage $10.00/hr with opportunity for raises based on years of service within Campus Enterprises

Purpose: NC State Students Centers creates memorable experiences for all students, guests and alumni at NC State. Essential functions and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Set up and tear down equipment in large event spaces according to event standards
  • Maintain organized and safe facilities, venues and work areas
  • Set up and store equipment with care and precision
  • Plan ahead and manage time to ensure smooth transition of room setups between events
  • Assist Operations team if time allows
  • Uphold a superior level of customer service
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism at all times
  • Attend and actively participate in mandatory staff meetings
  • Remain in compliance with NC State Student Centers student employee policies and expectations at all times

Essential Qualifications

  • Current NC State University student with a flexible schedule
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to carry, push, pull, and roll up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to work with and manage a team to serve a diverse population
  • Elevated oral and written communication skills
  • Willingness and ability to support other functions of NC State Student Centers 
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings, student employee orientation, and training sessions
