Information Assistant
Job Title: Information Assistant
Tier: 1
Location: Talley Student Union
Supervision: Reports to the supervising Graduate Assistant for the Information Desk
Work Schedule: Shift work; 8-20 hours per week between 7am and 1am; includes some nights and weekends
Compensation: Minimum starting wage $10.00/hr with opportunity for raises based on years of service within Campus Enterprises. Student Centers employees are eligible for an end-of-semester bonus.
Essential functions and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Proactively welcome and assist students and guests
- Offer information about events, NC State Student Centers student employment program, campus activities, and other information as needed
- Responsible for answering the phone and responding to questions via email
- Contact university departments and outside organizations to gain information needed by guests
- Maintain current inventory and records of available information (maps, contact information, department/organization locations, etc.)
- Collect and record lost and found items
- Responsible for gaming equipment check out
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and a clean work environment at all times
- Work on special projects assigned by Campus Enterprises and NC State Student Centers administration
- Remain in compliance with NC State Student Centers student employee policies and expectations at all times
Campus Enterprises Employee Expectations
As student employees with Campus Enterprises. we expect you to be professional and be present for your shifts. This includes but is not limited to:
- Arriving early for shifts
- Having on a complete uniform
- Clocking in and clocking out in a timely fashion
- Cell phones are only used at appropriate times
- Prioritize the client
- Finish all duties before taking a break
Essential Qualifications
- Current NC State University student with a flexible schedule
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills
- Ability to carry, push, pull, and roll up to 40 pounds
- Ability to work with and manage a team to serve a diverse population
- Elevated oral and written communication skills
- Willingness and ability to support other functions of NC State Student Centers
- Attend mandatory staff meetings, student employee orientation, and training sessions
