Student Centers Advisory Committee Lead

Job Title: Student Centers Advisory Committee Lead (Internal applicants only)

Tier: 3

Location: Talley Student Union and Witherspoon Student Center

Supervision: Reports to Graduate Assistant for Student Success overseeing the Student Centers Advisory Committee

Work Schedule: Two to five (2-5) hours per week including scheduling and conducting meetings, gathering feedback from students, assigning and participating in weekly assigned projects, and reporting to the SCAC advisor

Compensation: Minimum starting wage $11.50/hr with opportunity for raises based on years of service within Campus Enterprises

 

Student Centers Advisory Council Mission: The Student Centers Advisory Committee, composed of 10 current NC State students, will provide suggestions, recommendations, and feedback to the NC State Student Centers from a student perspective. Members will serve as advocates for the overall student experience and provide advice and feedback to the NC State Student Centers leadership team regarding daily operations of the Student Centers.

 

Purpose: NC State Students Centers creates memorable experiences for all students, guests and alumni at NC State. We strive to provide a clean, safe and welcoming environment for the NC State community. In support of the university’s educational mission, we serve as a cornerstone for student growth, learning and involvement through the highest quality service and facilities. Working as a member of the Student Centers Advisory Council, members will gain valuable experience and develop skills that can be transferred to their individual career paths.

 

Essential functions and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Schedule, conduct and actively participate in monthly SCAC meetings
  • Report the discussions of SCAC committee to SCAC advisor/departments 
  • Report to SCAC advisor/departments on campus progress
  • Assist in the recruitment and retention of SCAC members
  • Compose suggestions, recommendations, and feedback towards NC State’s Student Centers from a student perspective
  • Serve as advocates for the overall student experience, voices, and opinions
  • Work on special projects assigned by NC State Student Centers administration
  • Help shape decision making for NC State Student Centers
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism at all times
  • Remain in compliance with NC State Student Centers student employee policies and expectations at all times

 

Essential Qualifications:

  • Current NC State Student Centers employee
  • Current NC State University student with a flexible schedule
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work with a team to assess NC State Student Centers operations and to serve a diverse population
  • Aptitude toward group work, responsibility, problem solving, and respect
  • Ability to work with a team Elevated oral and written communication skills
  • Willingness and ability to support other functions of NC State Student Centers 
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings and training sessions
