Student Centers Advisory Committee Member

Job Title: Student Centers Advisory Committee Member (Internal applicants only)

Tier: 2

Location: Talley Student Union and Witherspoon Student Center

Supervision: Reports to the Student Centers Advisory Committee Lead

Work Schedule: One to two (1-2) hours per week including attending meetings,  gathering feedback from students, and participating in a weekly assigned project (assigned by SCAC Lead)

Compensation: Minimum starting wage $10.75/hr with opportunity for raises based on years of service within Campus Enterprises

 

Purpose: NC State Students Centers creates memorable experiences for all students, guests and alumni at NC State. Student Centers Advisory Committee Mission: The Student Centers Advisory Committee, composed of 10 current NC State students, will provide suggestions, recommendations, and feedback to the NC State Student Centers from a student perspective. Members will serve as advocates for the overall student experience and provide advice and feedback to the NC State Student Centers leadership team regarding daily operations of the Student Centers. Working as a member of the Student Centers Advisory Committee, members will gain valuable experience and develop skills that can be transferred to their individual career paths.

 

Essential functions and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Attend and actively participate in monthly SCAC meetings
  • Report project progress to SCAC Lead
  • Assist in the recruitment and retention of SCAC members
  • Compose suggestions, recommendations, and feedback towards NC State’s Student Centers from a student perspective
  • Service as advocates for the overall student experience, voices, and opinions
  • Help shape decision making for NC State Student Centers
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism at all times
  • Remain in compliance with NC State Student Centers student employee policies and expectations at all times

 

Essential Qualifications:

  • Current NC State Student Centers employee
  • Current NC State University student with a flexible schedule
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills
  • Aptitude towards group work, responsibility, problem solving, and respect
  • Ability to work with a team to assess NC State Student Centers operations and serve a diverse population
  • Elevated oral and written communication skills
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings and training sessions
